Review vocabulary with its video, audio or reading context
Recognising a word is different from understanding and using it in a sentence. Let the original material help you check meaning, combinations and purpose.
1. Keep the line and where it came from
Keep a full sentence, a video or audio location, and enough surrounding context. With a book, retain the paragraph rather than only a translated definition.
When returning to material in Tutor Chat, check that it is the source you originally studied. The same word may have a different meaning elsewhere.
2. Recall before reading the explanation
Read or listen to the sentence and try to explain what happened. Use a hint only when you need it, rather than starting every review by reading the answer.
In the original example below, brought back memories describes being reminded of something. Focus on that combination, not only the common meanings of bring.
The conversation brought back memories of my first trip.Ask what the expression does in this sentence, as well as what it means.
3. Check meaning against the source
Compare your explanation with the surrounding story or argument. A common dictionary meaning may not fit this particular sentence.
Include the original line when asking AI and ask what supports the interpretation. Return to the source if the explanation conflicts with the audio or text.
4. Use it in a situation of your own
Write a new example or describe a short experience after understanding the original. Keep the useful phrase structure while changing what you want to say.
Check whether the sentence expresses your intended idea and whether the phrase still fits. This adds a chance to use what you understood.
5. Plan the next review from your recall
Revisit confusing expressions sooner and leave easy ones for later. Use a clearer example or another listen when needed; there is no fixed review interval that fits everyone.
Work on a small set of useful expressions through recall, checking and use. Let that result help you choose what to study next.
